Al Quattrocchi ( aka Al Q ) was born in Brooklyn, New York. During his early teens he spent endless hours fishing the many beaches, piers and jettys of Sheepshead Bay, Breezy Point and Jamaica Bay chasing stripers, weakfish, fluke and bluefish.
After graduating Sheepshead Bay H.S., Al moved to California in 1978 to attend college. He attended Loyola Marymount University and later graduated Art Center College of Design with a BA in Advertising Design. Oddly enough, at LMU he met SoCal flyfishing guru and mentor Nick Curcione. Through their east coast upbringing and love for flyfishing they instantly became friends. Al’s love for design and art have translated directly into his flytying skills, many of which have been taught to him his mentors, Bob Popovics, Lefty Kreh, and Nick Curcione. Al Q is an avid saltwater flyfisherman who specializes in flyfishing the surf and tying beautiful saltwater patterns that catch fish.
