Midges will often bring the first fish of the season to the surface and the last. These small insects often hatch in large quantities and it’s not uncommon for fish the get selective. During a hatch, the pupae is an easy target for the fish as they hang in the surface head up and tail down. Remember to approach a fish with ease that is feeding on midge pupae. Observe and be patient. We recommend that you use a J:son Swivel for all your fly fishing, no matter what type of fly you are using. However, it is necessary to use a J:son Swivel whenever you fish a size 1 or 2 J:son fly.
