Ken is a pro fly tyer, rod maker, writer, illustrator, and airbrush artist. He is a retired draftsman and tooling engineer that started fishing at the early age of three and fly fishing and fly tying at 10. Now, after five decades of involvement, fly fishing has taken him around the globe in search of many different species of fish and become a great passion for him. Ken especially likes to use a spey rod on larger rivers seeking salmon and steelhead. He is a life member of the International Federation of Fly Fishers, Trout Unlimited, the North American Fish Club, and the United Fly Tyers. He also belongs to multiple other chapters and local organizations. He has taught fly fishing and fly tying classes for Boy Scouts, Wounded Warriors, veterans and for the Texas Parks & Wildlife as their Area Chief Instructor. Ken often ties at national and local events in the U.S. and Canada. You can find his Tying with Deer Video on YouTube and his patterns on his Facebook page. He also serves as a field tester and advisor to many different companies and he is now on four pro teams including: Whiting Farms, Daiichi Hooks, Dr. Slick, and the Canadian Tube Fly Company. When not working as an airbrush artist or teaching classes on fly tying, he enjoys photography, wood working, diving, backpacking and other outdoor sports… and of course spending time with his wife and fly fishing partner Memory.
